In the food and beverage industry there are thousands of companies, but one of the most well known brands is the Kellogg Company. The Kellogg Company owns 198 different brands. Through the creation of its products, the Kellogg Company strives to live up to its mission statement which is: "to drive sustainable growth through the power of our people and brands by better serving the needs of our consumers, customers and communities." Their mission statement emphasizes how important the stockholders are to the company. The Kellogg Company suggests, through its mission statement, that they hope to be friendly to the environment, be able to sustain itself, and to continually improve its standards of service to their stakeholders.
Contrary to the Kellogg Company mission statement is the mission statement of Crystal Geyser. The well known water company's mission statement is: "For nearly 35 years, California-based Crystal Geyser Water Company® has been committed to creating premium quality, wholesome and delicious natural beverages. Founded in 1977 in the scenic Napa Valley, we are an industry innovator that pioneered flavored sparkling mineral water. Our popularity continues to grow as we provide health-conscious consumers with flavorful, natural alternatives to sugared or artificially sweetened soft drinks." This mission statement does not discuss the importance of the stakeholders to the company or how it plans to continue growing. Rather, this mission statement emphasizes how great their products are and how their company has been a pioneer in the industry.
These two mission statements focus on completely different aspects of the company, while both attempting to model their products in the best way possible.

Nice distinction between the two types of mission statements. After reading about 30 or so from current blogs and blogs from last semester, it appears many are shifting to the Kellogg model.
